Customer Reviews about Eastside Gynecology Obstetrics

the staff is friendly enough but i always wait AT LEAST 35 minutes past my scheduled appointment time before even being called back. once in the room it's only more waiting before seeing the doctor for all of five minutes. i've been coming here for close to ten years but it might finally be time for me to find a new doctor with better customer service.

This review does not reflect upon the entire practice of Eastside Gynecology 23 Mile Rd office, but only one doctor there, MARGOT G. ABUNDIS, M.D. However, the entire practice should be focused on quality of care for all patients, and if quality is not a focus or protocol of every single doctor, then, this review is an indictment upon Eastside Gynecology and all of its 4 locations. I had been referred to her by my primary care doctor who is in the same building. What happened to me during my office visit should not ever happen to any woman in a doctor's exam room again. It was an absolutely horrible experience, one that actually made me sleepless for 5 straight nights, wondering if this really happened to me. This was the most terrifying medical experience I have ever had since I remember going to doctors at 10 years old (55 years ago). First, she came into the exam room with a male 25-35 years of age dressed in a short white, dingy med coat, very unkept, unshaven, and no identification badge visible. He really looked more like he was cooking meth in a lab instead of an official medical student. She didn't introduce herself nor him to me. She only stated, "I hope you don't mind a student observation." She never gave me a chance to reply. When I looked at the young man and I asked what school are you from," they both ignored me and she stated sit back. Now, I'm 65 yrs old, why would I want a 25 yr old man in the exam room with me looking between my legs? During the exam, Dr. Abundis was extremely rough with me, causing more pain than I have ever experienced during a routine PAP. EVEN MORE PAINFUL WAS THAT DURING THE EXAM SHE TALKED TO THE YOUNG MAN, explaining her findings in medical terms AND NOT TO ME AT ALL. She promptly removed her gloves headed for the door. While filling out her notes she simply said, well, just return in 2 years. THAT 2 YEARS WILL NEVER COME TO SEE ME IN THAT OFFICE AGAIN. I had to ask her should I get dressed. She never met my eyes not once during the entire encounter. I felt like I had been raped, really and truly, with God as my witness, this how I felt for weeks after this experience. I could not even speak to anyone about it because I felt the same shame one would feel after an unwanted, unsolicited sexual event with another human. I do not have a preference for male or female GYNs but this is even more devastating because the doctor was a female. Approximately 2 weeks after that visit, I stopped in the office to request that my medical records be sent to my doctor, the referring physician. I was told that It cost a minimum of $25 per page and my request had to go to their Roseville Office first and someone would call me to let me know the actual total cost to send my medical records to the referring physician. I never got a call from the Roseville Office. I never received a card or letter informing me of the results of my PAP. One month later, I had to call my doctor's office to have them track down the results. I worried for one month about a cancer screening test that should have taken 3 days at most. THAT, ALSO, IS UNFORGIVABLE. I know I was mistreated by Dr. Abundis, most likely the treatment rises to (or figuratively sinks to) illegal and certainly unethical mistreatment. I have experienced far more ageism as a senior citizen than I ever have experienced racism as a black woman. Perhaps, the former is the reason I was forced to endure this torment on her table. I will advise my doctor about this experience and recommend to him not to sully his good reputation with the act of sending referrals to Eastside Gynecology. Do not go to this office, if you do, do not subject yourself to this type of treatment in the exam room of Dr. Margot G. Abundis. (One star rating far exceeds what Dr. Abundis deserves.)
